RECONDITIONING OF RAISEBRORING CUTTERS

ROCBIT, through its unique international patented method for the
refurbishing of RAISEBORING CUTTERS, services RAISEBORING CUTTERS
completely, from stripping and replacing Bearing Structure Parts,
including Journals if required, to restoration of the Shell Cutting
Profile.

During a service, the Cutter is completely disassembled. The Bearing
Journals of the Shell as well as the Axel / Journal isinspected and
measured to ensure compliance. The Rollers, Balls and/or Taper
Bearing are inspected and measured, all non-conforming parts
are replaced and new Seals, "O"-rings, Ball Cages, Plugs, Spacers,
Grease Nipples and Circlips supplied and fitted. After assembly, the
Cutter is pressure tested to ensure sealant against loss of lubricant
and ingress of foreign material. If Taper Bearings are used, the Cutter
is torque greased by weight to ensure that the correct quantity of
lubricant is added and then all Cutters are torque tested to ensure
correct rotation of the Shell around the Journal.

This refurbishing does not only ensure a guaranteed bearing structure
life but restores the cutting structure of the shell to provide equal
penetration at equal force, to that of a new cutter, thus reverting back
to the normal forces acting on both the machine and drill string. The
restoration can be carried out on new cutters with as little as 10%
remaining life, restoring the cutter back to 80% and more remaining
cutter life, at a fraction of the cost of a new cutter.

Statistics obtained from over 12 000 restored Cutters using the ROCBIT
patented method and being used in Raise Boring in South Africa, Zambia,
South America, Europe and Scandinavia proves that this ROCBIT method
adds an average of 80% additional Cutter life to your Cutter fleet.
